INSURANCE
What Happened
Commercial insurance startup Outmarket secured $34.5 million in Series B funding led by SignalFire, four months after a $17 million Series A round. Participants included Fika Ventures, Permanent Capital Ventures, TTV Capital and Dash Fund. Founded by former Ethos product leader Vishal Sankhla, the company reached a $335 million valuation automating manual paperwork in a market with over 250 coverage types.
Outmarket expanded to over 300 insurance agencies, including 25 percent of the top 100 firms, within 14 months of product launch. Human agents sell 95 percent of insurance, but managing custom policies across property and casualty markets creates administrative delays. Competitors Fulcrum AI and FurtherAI are also building artificial intelligence tools for brokerages.
Why It Matters
For PE backed operators in insurance, manual paperwork eats operating margins and slows policy placement across trillion dollar property and casualty markets. Automating administrative workflows allows portfolio brokerages to process higher policy volumes and improve EBITDA multiples without expanding headcount.
What to Do Now
Audit back office brokerage operations to identify manual documentation bottlenecks in commercial policy workflows. Deploy artificial intelligence tools that process policy applications, compare coverage terms and accelerate submission processing.
WHERE XTAM FITS
Admin work is where margin hides. XTAM drives operational velocity, compressing six week, human heavy workflows into 24 hours.
